Ahl-ul-Bayt World Assembly Meeting Discusses Challenges on Path of Islamic Propagation

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 7th Summit of the General Assembly of Ahl-ul-Bayt World Assembly concluded here in the Iranian capital on Saturday.

The gathering was held in Tehran and the northeastern holy city of Mashhad with the motto of “Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS); Pivot of Rationality, Justice and Dignity”.

Hundreds of guests from more than 110 countries took part in the assembly.

On the last day of the event, speakers discussed the challenges and problems that Shia Muslims face on the way of propagating the teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

One of them was Muhammad Haidar from Mali, who said Tabligh (propagation) in each society has its own requirements.

He noted that benefiting from the cyber space for Tabligh can be very effective given how much the youth use the internet.

Zayd al-salami from Australia elaborated on the activities of Shia Muslims in his country as well as the issue of Shiaphobia and Islamophobia there.

In his address, Mustafa Ghulam Abbas from Kuwait proposed the formation of a scholars assembly to resolves differences among Shias.

Later in the final day of the gathering, the decisions made in different commissions were announced.

They included the formation or enhancements of local assemblies in different countries, planning to benefit from the potentials of Shia elites, using the legal capacities available in different countries to restore the rights of Shia minorities, promoting ties among Shia cultural, economic, social and political centers, supporting and equipping active Shia centers, launching a movement to boost media insight, teaching the youth about producing content in cyber space, holding meetings among economic activists, creating a network of Shia women who are active in economic fields, and underlining the role of Muslim scholars in raising awareness about importance of economic cooperation.

Among other decisions made at the assembly were establishment of research and development centers, emphasizing the need for investment in less development regions where Shia Muslims live, establishment of societies of women in different countries and promoting their activities.

The Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly is an international non-governmental organization in Iran.

It was founded in 1990 by a group of Shia elites in order to identify, organize, educate and support followers of the Household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
